Why convert PPT to PDF?

Presentations can look different depending on the device, PowerPoint version, or fonts installed. A PDF locks in your design, so every slide appears exactly the way you intended. It also keeps your content from being edited by accident and makes large presentations easier to email and share.

Convert PowerPoint presentations to PDF

Convert PPT or PPTX to PDF so your slides can be shared, printed, or uploaded without needing PowerPoint. Layouts, images, and fonts stay as designed.

It is the easiest way to send a presentation to a client or attach handouts to an email.

Quick tips

  • Check animations are not essential, since PDFs are static.
  • Compress the PDF if the deck has many images.
  • Add page numbers for handouts.

How to convert a PowerPoint presentation to PDF

Why save a PowerPoint as a PDF?

A .pptx file depends on the software and fonts of whoever opens it. Open it on a different computer and spacing can shift, a font can be swapped, and an image can land in the wrong place. A PDF stores every slide exactly as you designed it, so it looks the same on a phone, a laptop, and a conference-room screen.

PDF is also the safer format for sharing: slides cannot be edited by accident, and the file is usually smaller and easier to email than a deck full of high-resolution pictures.

How do I convert PPT to PDF online?

Upload your .ppt or .pptx file, convert it, and download the PDF. You do not need PowerPoint installed, so it works from any browser, including on a phone or tablet.

Each slide becomes one page of the PDF in the same order as your deck, ready to share, print, or attach to an email.

What about animations, transitions, and speaker notes?

A PDF is static, so animations, transitions, embedded video, and audio do not play. Each slide is captured as it looks at its final state. If a slide relies on content that appears one click at a time, check that everything you want visible is shown on the slide itself before converting.

If you need to hand out slides with notes, remember that this tool converts the slides themselves. Use PowerPoint's own handout or notes export when you need notes pages.

Tips for a clean slide deck PDF

Use common fonts or fonts you know the converter can render, keep image sizes reasonable, and check slides with many layered shapes after converting. If the finished PDF is too large to email, compress it with the Compress PDF tool. To send only some of the slides, extract them with the Split PDF tool.

Popular ways to use it

Email a deck to a client

A PDF opens on any device without PowerPoint and is usually easier to attach than the original presentation.

Create printable handouts

Convert the deck and print the PDF so attendees get the same slides you presented.

Upload slides to a school or event site

Many learning platforms and conference portals accept PDF only. Convert once and upload.

Archive a final version

Save the finished presentation as a PDF to keep a fixed copy that no one can accidentally change.

Share a pitch deck with investors

A PDF keeps fonts, logos, and layout intact on every screen and is easy to forward.

Troubleshooting and common problems

A font looks different in the PDF.

The font probably is not available where the conversion happens, so a similar one was used. Switch to a common font in PowerPoint and convert again.

An animation or video is missing.

PDFs cannot play animation, video, or audio. Keep a PowerPoint copy for presenting and use the PDF for sharing and printing.

Some content is cut off or shifted.

Check that objects sit inside the slide area and avoid heavily layered shapes. Re-save the deck as .pptx and convert again.

The PDF is too big to send.

High-resolution photos make large files. Compress the PDF afterwards, or reduce picture sizes in PowerPoint before converting.

Good to know

One slide per page
Each slide becomes a single page, in the same order as the deck.
Static output
Animations, transitions, audio, and video do not carry over into a PDF.
.ppt and .pptx
Both PowerPoint formats are accepted. .pptx tends to convert more reliably.
Keep the source
A PDF is not meant for editing. Keep the PowerPoint file for changes, or convert PDF back with PDF to PPT.
