Why convert Excel to PDF?
Spreadsheets can look different depending on the device, app, or version used to open them. A PDF locks in your layout, so numbers, tables, and charts appear exactly the way you intended. It also stops others from accidentally changing your data, which makes it ideal for sharing reports and records.
Convert Excel spreadsheets to PDF
Turn spreadsheets into shareable PDFs for reports, invoices, and price lists. The Excel to PDF converter keeps your tables and formatting in a read-only file.
Upload an .xls or .xlsx, convert, and send a document that nobody can accidentally change.
Quick tips
- Set the print area in Excel for tidy page breaks.
- Use landscape for wide tables.
- Merge several converted sheets into one PDF.
A practical guide to converting Excel spreadsheets to PDF
Why convert an Excel file to PDF?
Spreadsheets are built for calculating, not for reading on every device. Columns get cut off on a small screen, a stray keystroke changes a figure, and the receiver may not own Excel at all. A PDF locks the numbers and the layout in place so the report you send is the report they see.
It is the standard way to share invoices, price lists, timesheets, budgets, and monthly reports with clients and colleagues.
How do I convert Excel to PDF online?
Upload your .xlsx or .xls file, run the conversion, and download the PDF. You do not need Excel installed, which makes it useful on a phone, a tablet, or a shared computer.
This converter fits each worksheet onto a single PDF page, so one sheet becomes one page. That keeps every column visible and avoids the common problem of a table being split across pages.
How do I fit all columns on one page?
Because each sheet is scaled to one page, wide tables stay together. The trade-off is size: a very wide or very long sheet will be shrunk, and small text may be hard to read once printed.
If a sheet is too dense, split it into logical parts before converting, hide columns the reader does not need, or move the data into a landscape-friendly layout. In Excel you can also tidy the layout with Page Layout, then Scale to Fit.
Will formulas and multiple sheets be included?
The PDF shows the calculated values, not the formulas behind them, which is exactly what you want when you are sharing results rather than your workings. Every worksheet in the workbook is included, in order, so a workbook with six tabs gives you a six-page PDF.
Popular ways to use it
Send an invoice or quote
Turn an invoice template into a PDF so the client sees fixed amounts and cannot alter a line by mistake.
Share a monthly report
Convert a multi-tab report into one document that opens the same way on any device, with a page per sheet.
Print a price list or catalogue
A PDF prints the same on every printer, which is helpful for price lists and product sheets.
Archive financial records
Save finished budgets, statements, and timesheets as PDFs so the figures stay exactly as they were on the day you saved them.
Email a spreadsheet to someone without Excel
Anyone with a browser or phone can open a PDF, so there is no need for them to install a spreadsheet app.
Troubleshooting and common problems
The text in the PDF looks tiny.
Each sheet is fitted to one page, so very wide or long sheets shrink. Hide unneeded columns, delete empty rows and columns, or split the data across two sheets before converting.
A sheet or part of a sheet is missing.
Check that the sheet is not hidden or empty in Excel, and remove any blank area that is far from your data. Then convert again.
Charts or images look different.
Charts and images are rendered as they appear in the workbook, so complex charts can differ slightly. Check the result and simplify the chart if needed.
Numbers or dates show as ##### or the wrong format.
Widen the column or fix the cell format in Excel first, then convert. The PDF shows what the cell displays.
Good to know
- One sheet, one page
- Each worksheet is scaled to fit a single PDF page, so tables are never split across pages.
- Values, not formulas
- Formulas are not shown in the PDF. Only the results appear, so your logic stays private.
- .xlsx and .xls
- Both the modern and the older Excel formats are accepted.
- Keep the original
- A PDF is read-only. Keep the Excel file for edits, or convert a PDF back with the PDF to Excel tool.

How do I save an Excel sheet as a PDF without cutting off columns?

Can I convert only one sheet of an Excel workbook to PDF?
All sheets in the workbook are included. To keep just one, delete the others in Excel first or pull out the page you need afterwards with the Split PDF tool.
Does Excel to PDF show formulas or values?

Why is my Excel PDF too small to read?
Because each sheet is scaled to fit one page, wide or very long sheets are reduced. Trim empty columns and rows or split the sheet and convert again.
Can I make a PDF from a CSV or spreadsheet exported from another app?
Convert it to .xlsx or .xls first, for example by opening and saving it in your spreadsheet app, then upload it here.
