Why convert PDF to PNG?
PDFs can't always be previewed or used where only images are accepted, such as websites, design tools, and social platforms. PNG is a lossless format, so text and graphics stay clean and readable even when zoomed in. Converting PDF to PNG gives you images that are easy to share, edit, and insert into presentations, documents, and designs.
Convert PDF pages to crisp PNG images
PNG keeps text and line art sharp, which makes it a great format for diagrams, screenshots, and documents. Convert PDF to PNG and get one lossless image per page.
Use the files in presentations, design tools, or documentation where clarity matters.
Quick tips
- Pick PNG for text-heavy pages and JPG for photos.
- Expect larger files than JPG.
- Convert only the pages you need.
Converting PDF pages to sharp PNG images
How do I convert a PDF to PNG?
Upload your PDF and convert it. Each page is rendered as a PNG image and the images are delivered together in a ZIP file. Open the archive to get one picture per page, ready to use in slides, documents or design tools.
Pages are rendered at about twice their original size, so text and fine lines stay clear when you zoom in.
Why choose PNG over JPG for a PDF page?
PNG is lossless. Nothing is thrown away when the image is saved, so thin lines, small text, charts and logos keep their sharp edges. That makes it a good choice for diagrams, screenshots of forms, slides and any page where readability matters more than file size.
The trade-off is size. PNG files are generally larger than JPG, particularly for photographs. For a photo-heavy page you are only going to share, JPG may be the more practical choice.
Can I get a PNG with a transparent background?
PNG supports transparency, but whether a page has any depends on the PDF. Most PDF pages have a white page or a coloured background of their own, so the result will usually look like the page itself. If you need a logo or graphic on a transparent background, the artwork has to be saved without a background in its source file.
How do I keep PNG files small enough to share?
Convert only the pages you need, compress the PDF first if it holds large embedded images, and consider JPG for photographic pages. You can also resize the PNGs after converting if a website limits dimensions or file size.

Troubleshooting and common problems
The PNG files are very large.
Convert fewer pages, compress the PDF first, or use PDF to JPG for pages that are mostly photos.
My PNG has a white background, not a transparent one.
The PDF page has its own background. Transparency has to be present in the original artwork, which a page render cannot add.
The ZIP file is hard to open on my phone.
Use the Files app or a free unzip app, then save the images to your gallery.
The conversion fails on my PDF.
If the PDF is password protected, unlock it first with Unlock PDF. Also check that the file is under the size limit and is not damaged.
