Why crop a PDF?
Scanned pages often have wide borders, and exported documents can carry unwanted white space. Cropping gives you a cleaner page that is easier to read on a phone, print or include in a presentation.
Crop PDF pages and remove extra margins
The Crop PDF tool trims the visible area of your pages. Drag the blue edges on the page preview, or set exact top, right, bottom and left margins as a percentage of the page.
Apply the same crop to the whole document or only to selected pages. The work happens in your browser, so private files are never uploaded.
Quick tips
- Start with small margins and check the preview.
- Crop scanned pages after rotating them upright.
- Use Redact PDF, not cropping, to remove sensitive content.
How to crop a PDF and trim margins in your browser
How do I crop a PDF page to remove white space?
Upload your PDF and the first page appears with a crop box. Drag the edges inward, or use the Top, Right, Bottom and Left sliders, until the white border is gone. Click Crop PDF and the trimmed file downloads.
Margins are set as a percentage of the page, and the tool applies them to every page by default. Everything runs in your browser, so your file stays on your device.
Can I crop only some pages?
Yes. Switch from All pages to Selected pages and enter a range such as 2-4, 7. Only those pages are trimmed and the others stay as they were.
The preview shows page 1, so check how the margins sit on your other pages. If pages have different sizes or layouts, crop them in separate passes so each group gets its own margins.
Does cropping delete what is outside the box?
Not in the sense of erasing it. The tool changes the visible page area by setting the PDF's CropBox and MediaBox. Content outside the new area is no longer shown, but it can still be part of the file.
That makes cropping fine for tidying margins and fitting a page to a screen. It is not a way to hide private information. For that, use Redact PDF, which flattens the marked pages so the hidden content is gone.
What should I check after cropping?
Scroll through the result and look at the edges of each page for clipped text, page numbers or footers. If something is cut off, go back to your original file and use smaller margins. The tool never changes the original, so you can try again as often as you like.
Popular ways to use it
Trim scanner borders
Remove the dark edges and white margins that scanners leave around a page.
Make text bigger on a phone
Cropping the margins lets the content fill more of a small screen.
Prepare slides or reports for printing
Cut extra space so the page fits a template or frame.
Remove a header or footer area
Trim the top or bottom strip you do not want on screen.
Crop a range of pages
Apply margins to selected pages only and leave other pages untouched.
Troubleshooting and common problems
The tool says to set at least one margin.
All four margins are zero. Move a slider or drag a crop edge before you click Crop PDF.
It says the margins are too large.
The margins together would leave almost nothing. Keep left plus right, and top plus bottom, under 90 percent.
Some pages look cropped differently.
Margins are percentages, so pages of different sizes shrink by different amounts. Crop those groups of pages separately.
Text near the edge got cut off.
Use your original file and trim less. Check the footer and page number areas in particular.
Good to know
- Percentage margins
- Values are a share of the page as you see it, so rotated pages are handled correctly.
- Cut content can remain in the file
- Cropping changes what is shown, not what is stored.
- Preview is page 1
- Review other pages after cropping.
- Original is untouched
- You download a new PDF.

FAQs
Is this Crop PDF tool free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no watermark and no signup.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The crop is applied inside your browser, so the file stays on your device.
Does the preview show every page?
The preview shows page 1. The same margins are applied to every page you choose, so pages of very different sizes may crop differently.
Can I crop only some pages?
Yes. Choose Selected pages and enter ranges such as 1-3, 5.
Is the cropped content deleted?
The crop sets the visible page area. Content outside it may still exist in the file, so do not use cropping to hide sensitive information.
How do I crop a PDF for free?
Upload the PDF, drag the crop edges, and click Crop PDF. The trimmed file downloads without a signup.
Can I crop all pages at once?
Yes. The default applies your margins to every page.
How do I crop a PDF without Adobe Acrobat?
Open this page, upload the file, drag the crop edges, and download the result. No software is needed.
Can I auto-crop a PDF to remove all white margins?
This tool uses margins you set yourself, by dragging or with the sliders. There is no automatic detection, so check the preview.
Will cropping change the file size?
Usually only slightly. The content is still in the file, so use Compress PDF if you need a smaller file.
Can I crop a scanned PDF?
Yes. Scanned pages are cropped the same way as any other page.
Can I undo a crop?
Not in the cropped file. Keep your original PDF and run the crop again with different margins.
