Why convert PDF to Excel?
Data locked inside a PDF can't be sorted, summed, or charted. If you receive a bank statement, invoice list, or report as a PDF, retyping every figure is slow and easy to get wrong. Converting PDF to Excel moves your tables into a spreadsheet, so you can analyze and reuse the data immediately.
Convert PDF tables to Excel spreadsheets
Pull tables out of bank statements, invoices, and reports with the PDF to Excel converter. Rows and columns are placed into an .xlsx file so you can sort, filter, and calculate.
It saves hours of manual copy-paste and works best on PDFs that contain real text tables rather than scanned images.
Quick tips
- Run OCR first for scanned statements.
- Check number formats and dates after conversion.
- Convert only the pages that contain tables by splitting first.
Turning PDF tables into Excel data you can use
How do I convert a PDF table to Excel?
Upload the PDF, convert it, and open the .xlsx in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice. The converter looks for tables, places each row and column into cells, and gives every page its own sheet so you can see where the data came from.
This works best when your PDF contains real text arranged in clear rows and columns, such as exported reports, price lists, timetables and statements generated by software.
How can I convert a bank statement or invoice PDF to Excel?
Statements and invoices are usually made of text, so they convert well. After conversion, scroll through the sheet and compare the first and last rows with the PDF. Check that dates were read as dates and amounts as numbers, because a number stored as text will not add up in a SUM formula.
These files often hold private information. Our files are handled securely and removed from the servers after processing, and it is still good practice to delete the converted copy once you have finished with it.
Why are my columns misaligned after converting?
PDFs do not contain true tables. They contain pieces of text placed at positions on a page, and the converter has to guess how those pieces line up. Merged cells, tables without borders, text that wraps inside a cell and tables that span two pages are the usual causes of shifted columns.
A quick fix is to insert or delete a column, use Text to Columns on the Data tab for combined values, or convert fewer pages at a time by splitting the PDF first.
What about scanned PDFs?
A scanned page is an image, so there is no text for the tool to read. Scanned files need OCR, which is available on paid plans. When you can, request the original digital version of a document from its sender because it will almost always convert more accurately.
Popular ways to use it
Analyse a bank or card statement
Sort, filter and total transactions in Excel instead of scrolling through PDF pages.
Move invoices into accounting sheets
Copy line items, taxes and totals from supplier PDFs into your own spreadsheet.
Reuse report tables
Take tables from annual reports, studies or government documents and build charts from them.
Update price lists and catalogues
Convert a supplier price list to a sheet, add your margin column, and share a new version.
Collect data for research
Extract tables from papers or statistics PDFs for analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.
Troubleshooting and common problems
Numbers appear as text and formulas do not work.
Select the column, use Data > Text to Columns and finish, or multiply the range by 1 using Paste Special. Remove thousands separators or currency symbols if needed.
A table is split across two sheets.
Each PDF page gets its own sheet. Copy the continuation rows into the first sheet, or merge the sheets with Power Query or a simple copy and paste.
Columns are shifted by one cell.
Insert or delete a cell shifting the data left or right for the affected rows, or fix the header row first and let the data follow.
Nothing was converted from my PDF.
The PDF may be a scan. Scanned and image-based files need OCR, which is available on paid plans.

FAQs
Is this PDF to Excel converter really free?
Yes. It's free to use, with no watermark and no signup.
Will my tables stay accurate after conversion?
Tables are detected and placed into rows and columns, so most data transfers cleanly. Complex layouts, merged cells, or unusual designs may need small manual adjustments in Excel.
Can I convert scanned PDFs?
PDFs with selectable text give the best results. Scanned or image-based PDFs need OCR, which is available on paid plans.
Will all pages and tables be converted?
Yes. Tables from all pages are included, each page on its own sheet. Very large documents may group several pages into one sheet.
Do I need Microsoft Excel installed?
No. Conversion happens in your browser. You only need Excel or any compatible spreadsheet app to open the result.
Can I convert PDF to Excel on my phone?
Yes. It works on smartphones, tablets, and computers.
Are my files safe?
Yes. Files are handled securely and removed from our servers after processing.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 50 MB are supported.
Can I convert a PDF table to Excel?
Yes. Upload the PDF and the tables are converted into spreadsheet rows and columns.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Use the OCR PDF tool first so the text can be read.
How do I convert a PDF to Excel without losing the table format?
Use a text-based PDF, convert it, and review rows and columns. Most tables transfer cleanly, while merged cells and unusual layouts may need small manual fixes.
Can I convert a PDF bank statement to Excel for free?
Yes. Upload the statement, convert it, and download the XLSX. Check dates and amounts afterwards to make sure they are stored as dates and numbers.
Why does PDF to Excel put everything in one column?
When a PDF has no clear column structure, text can land in a single column. Use Text to Columns in Excel to split it by spaces, tabs or other delimiters.
Can I convert only one table from a PDF?
Yes. Split out the page that holds the table first, then convert that single page to keep the workbook small.
Does PDF to Excel work with multi-page tables?
Yes. Tables on every page are converted, each page on its own sheet, and you can combine them in Excel afterwards.
