How to Remove Duplicate Pages from a PDF (Free)
Find and delete repeated pages in a PDF in a few clicks. Clean up scans and merged files for free on Tools4PDF, right in your browser.
A PDF with repeated pages is longer than it should be, heavier to send and harder to review. The reliable way to clean one up on Tools4PDF is to keep only the unique pages: pull out the page ranges you want with Split PDF, then join the pieces in order with Merge PDF if you end up with more than one.

The same page appears twice in a row |
Keep one copy of the page |

Files merged with overlapping sections |
A block of pages repeats mid-document |

Fix it with Rotate PDF so you can compare |
Spot the duplicates before you change anything
Get your page list right first, because the clean-up is only as good as your notes.
- Open the PDF in any viewer and scroll through the thumbnails, noting the page number of every repeat.
- Compare near-identical pages closely. If one copy has a signature, stamp or handwritten note, that is the one to keep.
- Straighten sideways scans with Rotate PDF, which turns pages 90°, 180° or 270° and saves the change permanently.
- Write down the pages to keep, as ranges, and check the total against the original page count.
Example: in a 10-page PDF where page 5 repeats page 4 and page 9 repeats page 8, the pages to keep are 1-4, 6-8 and 10.

Keep these ranges |
|

Page 5 repeats 4; page 9 repeats 8 |
1-4, 6-8, 10 |
|
12 |
Pages 7-8 repeat pages 5-6 |
1-6, 9-12 |
|
6 |
Page 1 appears again as page 6 |

Remove duplicate pages on Tools4PDF
The idea is simple: instead of deleting the repeats, extract everything else.
- Open Split PDF in your browser.
- Upload your PDF. The free plan accepts files up to 15 MB, and the upload screen shows your plan's limit.
- Choose the extract-pages option and enter the ranges you wrote down, skipping every duplicate (for the 10-page example, 1-4, 6-8 and 10).
- Run the split and download the result.
- Open the new file and check the page count and order against your notes.
The controls may change as the tool is updated, so follow the prompts on the page. Keep your original PDF until you have checked the result, so you can try again if a range was wrong.
If the tool gives you each range as a separate file, put them back together in the next step.
Rebuild the file, or clean duplicates across several PDFs
Joining the pieces. Upload the extracted files to Merge PDF, drag them into the right order, and merge. Pages are combined without recompression, so text, images and layout stay exactly as they were. The number of files per merge depends on your plan, and your limit is shown when you upload.
Duplicates spread over several PDFs. If the repeats are in different files, merge them into one document first so you can see the whole sequence at once. Then note the repeats in the combined file and extract the unique pages with Split PDF, as above.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find duplicate pages in a
PDF?
Scroll through the page thumbnails in a viewer
and note pages that look identical or nearly identical. Check small differences
such as signatures or dates before deciding which copy to keep.
Can Tools4PDF remove duplicates
automatically?
The toolkit does not list an automatic duplicate finder, so you spot the
repeats yourself and keep the unique pages with Split PDF.
Will removing pages make the file
smaller?
Usually, yes, because the file has fewer
pages. For more savings, run it through Compress PDF.
Can I undo it?
Keep your original PDF. Your cleaned file is a new download, so you can always
start again from the original.
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scanned pages are whole-page images, so
you can keep or skip them by page number like any other page.
Can I clean a password-protected
PDF?
Unlock it first with Unlock PDF,
and only if you have permission.
Is Tools4PDF free?
Yes. The free plan covers basic tools with up
to 25 tasks a day and files up to 15 MB. Paid plans raise those limits.
