Privacy Policy

1. About this policy

This policy explains how Tools4PDF (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the website at tools4pdf.com, including its translated versions and its PDF tools. For a plain-language summary of where your files are processed, see our security and privacy page.

This policy covers the website. Our mobile app, if you use it, has its own privacy policy.

2. Your files

Tools that run in your browser. Many tools read and edit your file on your own device and never upload it: Organize, Delete Pages, Watermark, Crop, Redact, Flatten, Repair, Compare, PDF to Text, Extract Images, HTML to PDF, and the WebP, HEIC and Scan to PDF tools. We never receive these files.

Tools that may use our servers. The other tools (for example Merge, Split, Compress, Rotate, Add Page Numbers, Lock, Unlock, OCR, the PDF editor, and the converters between PDF and Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML and images) process files up to 15 MB in your browser without uploading them when you use the site as a guest or on a free plan. Larger files, very long documents, OCR, and files processed on a paid plan are sent to our servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection so they can be processed there.

Files sent to our servers are used only to produce the result you asked for, and the uploaded and result files are deleted automatically after processing. We do not read your documents and we do not use them to train models or for advertising.

If you save a document from the PDF editor, the saved file is stored so that you can download it. Keep your own copy of anything important.

Data travels between your browser and our servers over HTTPS. Passwords are stored in protected form. Protect PDF encrypts documents with AES-256, and when it runs in your browser the password you choose is not sent to us. No online service can promise absolute security, so please keep a copy of important files and use strong passwords.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to some uses, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

  • Account and history: manage your details, clear history, or delete your account from your account settings.
  • Anything else: email us at the address in section 13 and we will respond as soon as we can, and within the time the law requires.

If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have similar rights to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.

11. Children

Tools4PDF is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where the law sets a higher age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
