How to Convert Text to PDF in 4 Steps

Plain text has no fonts, margins or page layout, so it needs a document first. Word and Google Docs add that layout, and Tools4PDF turns the result into a PDF.

Copy your text. Open the file in Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac, select everything, and copy it. If the text is already in an email or a web page, copy it from there.

Paste it into Word or Google Docs. Add the basics you want in the final PDF: a heading, line spacing, and page breaks between sections. Stick to a common font such as Arial, Calibri or Times New Roman.

Save as DOCX. In Word, choose File, Save As, then Word Document. In Google Docs, choose File, Download, then Microsoft Word (.docx).

Convert it. Upload the DOCX to Word to PDF and download your PDF.

Tools4PDF has no separate TXT upload, so this short detour through a document is the reliable route, and it gives you control over how the pages look. Already have a DOCX or DOC file? Skip straight to step 4.

Why Turn Text Into a PDF?

A text or DOCX file can shift between devices; a PDF stays put. That matters when you submit documents to a portal that only accepts PDFs, send a final version to a client, print without layout surprises, or archive notes you want readable years from now.

After converting, you can do more with the file:

Edit PDF adds comments, shapes and extra text.

Add Page Numbers numbers longer documents.

Merge PDF joins several converted notes into one file.

Split PDF pulls out the pages you need.

Lock PDF adds a password before you share it. Compress PDF makes it small enough to email.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I upload a TXT file directly?

Not to Word to PDF. Paste the text into Word or Google Docs, save it as DOCX, then convert that file.

Is it free?

Yes. The free plan includes 25 tasks a day and files up to 15 MB, with higher limits on paid plans. See the pricing page.

Do I need Microsoft Word?

No. Google Docs can export a DOCX for free, and Word to PDF works in any modern browser.

Will my paragraphs and spacing survive?

Yes, when they are set properly in the document. Use real paragraph breaks and list buttons rather than extra spaces.

Can I convert several text files at once?

Convert each one, then combine the PDFs with Merge PDF. The free plan handles one file per batch.

Can I convert on my phone?
Yes. The tools run in a mobile browser, and Google Docs can export a DOCX from your phone too.
